The results variables that can be calculated for Cooling Tower are defined below:
· Air volume flow rate: The volume flow rate of air through the cooling tower
· Approach: The temperature difference between the air wet-bulb temperature and the cold water temperature.
· Blowdown water: Water added to the cooling tower system to counteract fouling (prevent a build-up of impurities on cooling tower equipment).
· COP: The coefficient of performance for the cooling tower. It's the heat rejection rate divided by the electricity consumption.
· Electricity consumption : The total electricity consumed (pump+fan)
· Entering air dry-bulb temperature: The dry-bulb temperature of the entering (ambient) air.
· Entering air enthalpy: The enthalpy of the entering (ambient) air.
· Entering air humidity: The proportion of water vapour in the entering (ambient) air (in kg of water per kg or air)
· Entering air wet-bulb temperature: The wet-bulb temperature of the entering (ambient) air.
· Entering water temperature: The temperature of water entering the cooling tower. This is always greater than or equal to the leaving water temperature.
· Fan power consumption: The electricity consumed to operate the fan.
· Leaving air dry-bulb temperature: The dry-bulb temperature of the air leaving the cooling tower.
· Leaving air enthalpy: The enthalpy of the air leaving the cooling tower.
· Leaving air humidity: The proportion of water vapour in the air leaving the cooling tower (in kg of water per kg or air)
· Leaving air wet-bulb temperature: The wet-bulb temperature of the air leaving the cooling tower.
· Leaving water temperature: The temperature of water leaving the cooling tower. This is always less than or equal to the entering water temperature.
· Overload flag: True (or 1) if the cooling tower is overloaded, false (or 0) otherwise.
· Pump power consumption: The electricity consumed to operate the pump.
· Range: The temperature difference between the warm water temperature and the cold water temperature.
· Waste heat rejected: The amount of waste heat removed from the circulating fluid and rejected to the environment.
· Water consumption: Water consumed by the cooling tower (this is the fresh water supply water that replaces blow-down, windage drift and evaporation losses).
· Water volume flow rate: The circulating water flow rate
· Water withdrawal: Water withdrawn from the potable water supply. For a cooling tower cooling system, this is the same as the water consumption.
· Windage drift losses: Water lost from the cooling tower system due to windage drift (droplets propelled out of the cooling tower by the fan.
