The HRC can either be configured in series or in parallel with the HWL. When the Pre-cool & pre-heatmode is selected the HRC will be placed in series on the HWL. When the Heating-drivenmode is selected the HRC will be placed in parallel on the HWL.
HRCin series with HWL
When configured in series, the HRC will be independently located upstream of the heating equipment set to serve as pre-heating of the building hot water return prior to reaching the heating equipment set.
HRCin parallel with HWL
When the HRC is configured in parallel, it functions as the primary source and can fully meet the building’s heating demand so long as there is enough heat rejected from the CHWL to not subcool the CHWL below chilled water setpoint. In this setup, the HRC maximizes use of the available (CHWL rejected) heat and is prioritized as the first heat source to operate on the hot water loop (HWL), before any other heating is enabled.
