Storeys & Roof

With the footprint shape defined, the site rotation set and the use of any perimeter zoning configured, you can then control the number and make-up of storeys the building and the type of roof to use (if any).
To make the building have more than one storey, enter a value into the Number of Storeys text box – this must be a value between 1 and 99 inclusive. You can set the height of each room (measured from floor to ceiling) by entering the appropriate value in the Floor Height text box.

You can optionally choose to create additional floor and/or ceiling spaces at each storey in the building. Each of these options is controlled by a checkbox – when ticked, this will enable the dropdown menu allowing the type of space to be selected and the text box for the height of the space.

For Ceiling spaces, the available types are either Return Air Plenums or Voids. For Floor spaces, the available types are either Supply Air Plenums or Voids. Each storey will use the same types of spaces and heights – these cannot be configured on a per-storey basis. Also, perimeter zoning and external glazing will not be applied to any floor and/or ceiling spaces that are created. Note that the heights for the floor and ceiling spaces are in addition to the main floor height for the storey – so, with Floor Height set to 3.0m, Ceiling Space added at 0.5m and Floor Space added at 0.25m, the total height for each storey of the building would be 3.75m.

You can also choose to optionally create a roof for the building – this is controlled by the Generate a roof of type checkbox. When ticked, this will enable the dropdown menu allowing the type of roof to be selected, as well as the text boxes for setting the slope of the roof and the overhang distance.

There are two types of roof that can be created – Hip Roof and Gable Roof. The slope of the roof is specified in degrees, in the range of 5° to 75° inclusive.
