Applying Changes to Multiple Templates

Marking Templates for Edit
The process for editing a value across multiple templates at once is the same as that outlined for the various cell-types above – the only difference is that before you perform the edit, you mark the templates you want to apply the change to. You can mark a template by clicking its marking checkbox at the left-hand side of the grid.

The following example shows 4 templates in a model that have been marked for edit:

The next image shows the same templates, after opening the dropdown list for Heating Profile column for the template Misc24Hr: Server room and editing the value from “on continuously” to “off continuously”:

As you can see, the changes to the Heating Profile value were applied across all marked templates. The changes will be applied regardless of the cell type – the process works in the same way for Basic Value cells, Dropdown List cells and Dropdown Window cells.

Bear in mind that there are cases where the specified value cannot be applied across all marked templates. Consider the following example, involving NCM Activity Type:

If you attempt to modify the value of NCM Activity Type for template Office: Cupboard to “NCM Office: Office (Office Common)”, the change will only be applied to the templates Office Cupboard, Office: Food preparation area and Office: Office. It would not be applied to Misc24Hr; Server room because that template is not using “B1: Office or Workshop (Office)” for its NCM Building Area Type. Similarly, the change would not be applied to Internal Void either – this is because that template has no NCM Building Area Type set.

Marking and Unmarking All Templates
You can quickly mark all templates for editing by clicking the checkbox next to the column headers:
When this checkbox is ticked, all templates displayed in the current tab will be marked for editing. If you click the checkbox again, all templates will be unmarked.
Alternatively, you can mark and unmark a template by clicking on its own marking checkbox. The grid will also mark a row in response to standard SHIFT-click and CTRL-click gestures – you can use these to mark ranges of templates within the grid.
You can also unmark a template by right-clicking on it and selecting the Unmark “<Template Name>” item in the pop-up menu. Similarly, you can unmark all other templates except the one you have right-clicked on by selecting the Unmark Other Templates item.
