4.18.1 Attributes

Area
The value entered for Area should include the total surface area of all solar thermal panels.

Available processing profile
Available processing profile allows selection of a profile from the database to define the availability of the Solar Water Heating object due to manual operation.  If a schedule is not required, the profile should be defined as “on continuously”.

Azimuth
Azimuth defines the orientation of all solar thermal panels in degrees clockwise from North.

Coolant Flow rate
Flow rate defines the rate of water flow through the water tank.

Conversion efficiency at ambient temperature
Conversion efficiency at ambient temperature is the efficiency of the conversion of solar energy to thermal energy in the panel.

Degradation factor
Degradation factor describes the slight degradation in performance due to an aged or damaged panel.

Electricity consumption metered
The Electricity consumption metered option allows the user to determine whether the electricity consumption of the Solar Water Heating object should be considered as part of the network.  If the box is checked (the condition is true), it is assumed that the electricity consumed by the Solar Water Heating object has already been included in a general electricity demand meter.

First Order Heat loss coefficients
First and second order heat loss coefficients are the heat loss coefficients used to calculate the heat losses of the water tank.

Heat exchange effectiveness
Heat exchange effectiveness is the effectiveness of the air-to-water heat exchanger in the solar thermal panel.

Inclination
Inclination is the tilt of the solar thermal panel.

Initial tank temperature
The Initial tank temperature is the initial temperature of the hot water tank.  This temperature cannot be higher than the Tank supply temperature, nor can it be lower than 20°C.

Maximum Outlet Flow Rate
Limits the maximum outlet flow rate

Outlet Flow Rate Profile
Outlet flow rate profile allows selection of a profile from the database to define flow rate characteristics.  If a schedule is not required, the profile should be defined as “on continuously”.

Pump power
Pump power is the power of the pump responsible for the flow rate.

Shading factor
The Shading factor determines the proportion of solar energy allowed to pass through various shading devices to the solar thermal array.  Shading factors should be defined on a scale from 0 to 1 where 0 is total shading (0% solar energy reaches the array) and 1 is no shading (100% solar energy reaches the array).

Storage tank storage loss at maximum
Storage tank storage loss at maximum is defined in units of energy per volume per day and represents the losses from the storage tank over time.

Storage tank volume
The Storage tank volume is the volume of the hot water storage tank.

Tank inlet temperature
The Tank inlet temperature is the temperature of cold water entering the water tank.

Tank supply temperature
The Tank supply temperature is the temperature of the water leaving the tank.  This value must be warmer than the Tank inlet temperature and warmer than 25°C.

Water consumption meter
The Tank supply temperature is the temperature of the water leaving the tank.  This value must be warmer than the Tank inlet temperature and warmer than 25°C.
