Users can choose to use a simple coefficient-based method or a detailed method where geometry is utilised to determine linear non-repeating and random transmittances.
The method is set on the Tools menu > Preferences dialog > Bridging tab.
Fig: Dimensional convention setting
The setting sets the thermal bridging mode for the whole of the VE.
The default setting is the simple coefficient-based method. This is suitable for early design where detail Psi values are unknown, or it is an option in some energy compliance routes.
For detail design and many energy compliance routes the detailed method is recommended.
If a model set for the detailed method is revised to the simple coefficient-based method this will delete all random transmittances geometry (the random thermal bridging impacts surfaces in the simulation model, thus they must be deleted in this reversion). It is suggested the model is archived if this is necessary. A warning will displayed in this situation.
