When loading a BIM file through the navigator, the model is not imported directly into the VE. Instead, it is imported into a temporary “quarantine” area. This area allows final checks and healing of the model to be carried out before importing to the VE. In addition, there are two tools, ‘Cap volumes’ and ‘Missing spaces’ that allow users to further manipulate their geometry without having to return to the main BIM model. It is advised however that the main BIM model should be updated to remove issue that are resolved using these specific tools. Please refer to section ‘Step 3 – Stage 3: Use VE tools to fix geometry’ for further information about using these tools.
