7.3 Hints for Problem-Free Simulation

Save the project file often during the setup procedure.
Always recalculate all distance maps after changing any attributes of the physical building space, links or exits. In other words, don’t bother creating distance maps until you are happy that you have finished altering the building.
Define the possible (immovable) furniture according to where it is likely to be located. Obstruction by furniture and other obstacles can be simulated. These are defined in the CAD program prior to exporting the *.dxf file to Simulex. Avoid locating furniture so that only narrow gaps are available for movement. If narrow gaps (less than 0.55 metres) are created it is possible that the distance may find a way through, but the physical size of a person will prevent him/her from getting through the gap.
