Desalination plants are assets that provide Potable water by consuming Electricity (and sometimes also Heat). Particular desalination plant technologies are not modelled explicitly, but instead adopt Specific Energy Consumption (SEC) values for electricity and heat consumption, in units of kWh/litre, representative of the particular technology involved.

The ID number of each Desalination plant object is unique and used for simulation. The name is not used by the simulation engine, but should be used to give the object meaningful identification within the project.
Users can define a custom Desalination plant, or may select from a list of pre-defined options. If defining a custom Desalination plant, the input values described below will need to be defined. Pre-defined options are as follows:
