Available processing profile
Available processing profile allows selection of a profile from the database to define the availability of the Power Station due to manual operation. If a schedule is not required, the profile should be defined as “on continuously”.
Efficiency curve
An Efficiency curve defines the energy efficiency of the Power Station as a function of the electricity output. Output values should be entered as a proportion of the Maximum output. An Efficiency Curve Editor is accessed by double clicking on the Efficiency curve input value, then selecting the edit button that appears in the field.
Fuel
A fuel should be selected for the Power Station to define the commodity burned to generate electricity.
Maximum output
Maximum output is the maximum amount of electricity output from the Power Station. If the required electricity exceeds the Maximum output, the electricity demand not addressed by the Power Station is calculated by the energy manager.
Auxiliary power loss factor
Fraction of electricity generated from fuel combustion that is required to operate equipment within the power station, such as coal milling, conveyance system, pumps and funs.
Flue heat loss factor
Fraction of heat generated from combustion that escapes through the flue exhaust pipe. This also includes other miscellaneous heat losses from the fuel-burning process.
COC
Cycles of concentration determines the amount of make-up water required to replace blowdown water. Typical values for cooling towers are between 3 and 10.

Design heat rejection input (kW)
Design heat rejection input allows the user to define the maximum amount of waste heat that the cooling tower can process. If the Waste Heat exceeds the Maximum input, the Waste Heat value not addressed by the Cooling Tower is calculated by the energy manager.

A COP curve defines the coefficient of performance of the Cooling tower as a function of the Capacity. Capacity values should be entered as a proportion of the maximum capacity. A COP Curve Editor is accessed by double clicking on the COP curve input value, then selecting the edit button that appears in the field.
Target temperature
The Target temperature is the target water temperature output of the tower. This value is used to calculate the electricity consumption of the Cooling Tower. It is assumed that the Waste Heat passed to the Cooling Tower is at a higher temperature than the target leaving water temperature of the tower.
Temperature range
Temperature range impacts the performance of the cooling tower along the defined efficiency curve.
Windage drift factor
Windage drift fraction is the fraction of heat lost from the cooling tower circulating water due to windage drift; mechanical transport of water into the air-stream by the fan. Typical values are from 0 to 0.003 depending on the type of cooling tower whether or not the cooling tower has drift eliminators installed.
