Sensors
This is used to run simulations for light sensors placed inside (or outside) spaces. This has the following options:
- Apache (default): uses rtrace with hard-wired quality parameters and sky. Results are modified by the Apache climate file (produces a model.ill file)
- Apache (custom): uses rtrace with user defined custom quality parameters and a hard-wired sky. Results are modified by the Apache climate file.
- Apache (dynamic): uses rcontrib with hard-wired parameters and Radiance sky. Results are modified by the Apache climate file. The dynamic quality (or custom) should be selected with this option
- Radiance (dynamic): will produce an illuminance file (rad.ril) for use within RadianceIES only. This can be used to investigate the light levels on one or more light sensors in a space, with the selected Radiance sky, with fixed dynamic parameters. The dynamic quality (or custom) should be selected with this option.
The Apache options will produce a (model.ill) file for use in the ApacheSim RadianceIES link. Once the sensor simulations are complete, the sensor lighting levels can be used to control lighting gains in ApacheSim dynamic thermal simulations via the RadianceIES link. Sensor results can be viewed in RadianceIES if needed, by going to the Sensor Settings tab, and clicking on the Read Illum button. For more information on sensors, refer to Sensor Settings tab.
