What is Monodraught HVR®?

Since the release of the Facilities Output Specification (FOS) for the Priority Schools Building Programme (PSBP) in 2013, Monodraught Ltd. have utilised their extensive knowledge, product testing, and building simulation skills to develop and evolve low energy ventilation systems provide required fresh air ventilation and year-round comfort whilst using the least amount of power and heating energy as possible.

Monodraught Hybrid Ventilation (HVR) is a range of products that continue to set the benchmark for the future generation of low energy hybrid ventilation systems that integrate heat exchange ventilation strategies.

They are designed to provide natural ventilation, hybrid mixing ventilation, low energy mechanical heat recovery ventilation in one compact unit, with the ability to provide, mechanical heating, mechanical cooling, secure night time cooling and boosted levels of ventilation during summer.

The latest product in the range, the HVR Zero APX unit represents a significant step forward in low energy hybrid ventilation technology. Ensuring excellent air quality is more crucial than ever due to its profound impacts on public health, environmental sustainability, social equity, and economic well-being. The system now incorporates an array of additional monitoring tools to enhance Indoor Air Quality (IAQ). These upgraded sensors monitor internal temperature, humidity, VOC, pollution levels, air flow rates, and CO2 concentration.

A key feature of the APX system is the Passivhaus level of airtightness. The system has been designed to exceed the requirements in the latest CIBSE TM23 guidance which requires ventilation systems to be closed but not sealed during the air testing of buildings, and every system is supplied with an airtightness test certificate.

The APX system also has improved heat recovery and an enhanced two-pipe coil. Specifically designed for compatibility with renewable heating and cooling solutions such as air source or ground source heat pumps. The APX can future proof buildings with the standard provision for cooling.

The HVR products operate completely autonomously to ensure optimum indoor air quality with the lowest possible energy use - in terms of both the energy consumption of the ventilation system and overall building energy usage.
The HVR products are designed to work in conjunction with other natural ventilation provided by manual or automatic windows or louvres and can be used in single sided or cross flow ventilation strategies. The units can be mounted horizontally above windows and can be ducted to provide ventilation to deep plan rooms.

The HVR products comprise of an intelligent and fully automatic control system coupled with a low energy ventilation system which switches between operational modes dependant on season, external/internal temperature conditions and indoor air quality (IAQ).
The HVR products have exceptionally low specific fan powers and feature an intelligent control system, which is supplied as standard, with full data logging facility, temperature control and CO2 control. With the optional BACnet module, each unit has the ability to output key performance data to a central BMS.
