Climate Energy Index (CEI)

The Climate Energy Index is a simple measure of the energy required to maintain air within a comfort zone bounded by PMV +/- 0.5, MC 0.004 kg/kg and RH 70%.
When compared globally the Climate Energy Index provides a perspective on the potential the climate has to affect the amount of energy a building may need to achieve occupant comfort. The charts show the selected weather file versus a basket of global locations based on historical (not future) weather data.

The Climate Energy Index recognises that building energy use varies hugely depending on climate; not all climates are equal.
