Additional Lighting Controls IECC

Section C405.2.3 details specific application controls that shall be provided in the models if applicable:

·     The following types shall be controlled by a dedicated independent control –
o     Display and accent lighting
o     Display case lighting
o     Nonvisual applications (i.e., plant growth and food warming)
o     Lighting equipment for sale or demonstration in lighting education

·     Hotel and motel sleeping units and guest suites
o     Shall have a master control device at main room entry which controls all permanently installed luminaires and switched receptacles

·     Supplemental task lighting, including permanently installed under-shelf or under-cabinet lighting shall
o     Have control device integral to luminaires OR
o     Be controlled by readily accessibly, wall-mounted control device

These requirements mean that separate manual switching is required if the following lighting types exist in the proposed model:

1.     Display/Accent Lighting
2.     Case Lighting
3.     Non-Visual Lighting
4.     Demonstration Lighting
5.     Hotel & Motel Suites
6.     Task Lighting

If these lighting types are contained in the proposed model they also need to be manually included in the standard reference model and the following steps should be followed by the user:

a.     Once the standard reference model has been generated, enter the profiles database (make sure the VE is in the ‘Reference’ view).
b.     Create the necessary profiles to represent the additional manually switched lighting types as described above.
c.     Create the necessary lighting gains and assign the profiles.
d.     Assign to the relevant baseline zones.
